If your UAN is not active then you would have to activate your UAN before you can actually proceed and use the UAN portal for filing claims or to even check the PF Balance. Below is the process for activating your UAN and it would certainly not take more than 2 minutes to activate the UAN.
Steps to Activate UAN Number
-} To activate your UAN, you need to navigate to the Member’s Portal of EPFO. A simple search on any of the search engine can take you to the portal or alternatively, follow the link mentioned below

-} On the homepage of the member’s portal, you will see a column with the Important Links. Under this heading, you will find a link to Activate UAN. Click on the link and you will be taken to a new page. If you are not able to find the link then you can click on the link mentioned below

-} Once you are on the portal, you can enter the UAN number that you want to activate. If you are not sure about your UAN Number then you can also enter your Aadhaar Number, PAN Number or PF Number.
-} Also, enter your name, date of birth and mobile number to proceed to the next step. Once that is done, click on the Get Authorization Pin.
-} Enter the OTP and click on the Validate OTP and Activate UAN button. Once you validate the request with OTP, a password will be sent to your Mobile Number.
Your UAN has now been activated and you can change the password after logging in for the first time. It should be noted that you will be able to access your Passbook 6 hours post activation or 6 hours after the change of password.
