When considering the security of Apple ID, the Cupertino giant took it too seriously. For added security of your accounts, they have two-step verification and three security questions. Keep in mind that disabled Apple ID doesn’t let you perform any activity, such as downloading contents from iTunes, purchasing any app on App Store, or reading mails on iCloud account.
Have You Forgotten Apple ID?
A lot of Apple IDs are primary emails of your account. Give it a try in case you forgot Apple ID. Another quick way is to check devices. Most of the people sign in using Apple ID on their iPad, iPhone, or Mac devices. So, you need to check iCloud, iTunes, and Apple ID profile and find out if settings and apps have Apple ID. Simply sign in with all the email addresses which might be used as Apple ID, if it doesn’t work.
What Not to Do?
If you keep entering wrong password over and over again, your account will be locked by Apple for up to 24 hours (during which you cannot open Apple ID even though you recalled your correct password). In case you forgot your password, don’t try to input the password again and again. So, it is best to reset your password.
How to Fix Disabled ID and Restore?
You need to know first name, last name, and email with Apple ID and fix disabled Apple ID. You should know the email ID which is linked to Apple ID. It will simply show up the message that it is disabled for security reasons and you may find at least one of these messages on account –
- This Apple ID is disabled due to security concerns.
- Apple ID is locked due to security concerns.
- You cannot log in as your account was removed due to security reasons.
Step 1 – Fix Apple ID using any browser on your PC or device through desktop site
Open a browser like Google Chrome, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, or Internet Explorer and visit https://iforgot.apple.com/appleid to enter iForgot page.
Step 2 – Fill in the Required Details
Fill in the details asked and click “Continue” button.
Step 3 – Choose how you would reset Apple ID on next screen
Choose one of these methods to reset your password –
- Select “Get Email to Reset Your Password”. It will send email to your primary address.
- Tap “Answer Security Question” and go through the steps.
- Enable 2-Factor Authentication for Apple ID. You can easily reset your password through any of the device you trust. Move to 2-Factor Verification.
- After turning on 2-step verification, Apple will need Recovery Key. Just go through the steps to perform 2-step verification.
Step 4 – Check for Recent Mail
If you skip 2-step verification, simply go to your email inbox and check if Apple sent an email. Just click on Reset Now.
Step 5 – Enter New Password and click “Reset Password”
It is important for new password to be different from the one which is used with Apple account last time.
Step 6 – This is all you need to do!
Apple will reset the password and get your account back to normal. When Apple ID is enabled, be sure to change password on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or other iDevices. Update password in Settings if you would download new apps from iTunes and App Store.
Using 2-Step Verification
Apple needs you to verify your identity with 2-Step verification when you enter your recovery key. Apple provides 14-character Recovery Key by doing it with instructions to keep it safe. This Recovery Key is used to fix Apple ID and open your account again.
Remember – You cannot change the password if you lose your Recovery Key permanently or access to the trusted device.
Follow these steps to recover Apple ID and Password using this method –
- Enter Apple ID, choose an option to reset password.
- Enter Recovery key
- Choose any of your trusted devices. Apple will send a verification code to your device.
- Enter the code.
- Create new password.
- Select reset password.
